Great place! People were very nice. Clean restrooms and campsite. We were in a campsite that was in area 4 and near the road so we could hear the traffic but it seemed as if we were in the woods in our own 'boma'. It was very private and we enjoyed being close to the coast and Mystic, CT. Great location.
Peaceful setting, yet close to everything. Don't miss the diner a short walk away, and many seafood options nearby. Bring leveling blocks even if you have jacks; several sites have a significant slope, but we were happy just to have snuck in on a fall weekend.
Nice Campground with plenty of room between trailers. Great bathrooms. Easy access to the lighthouse, beach & Newport mansions.
closest to in my opinion the better family beaches....rodger wheeler and scarboarugh...tough to get mid season camping.. but if you plan ahead... 12 months.....you can usually get what you want for a good site...
Great campground, very spacious sites. Best price for a campground in the State.
DO NOT STAY IN SITE 114. This was the worst campsite I have ever stayed in. It is tiny, DIRECTLY next to the bathroom, and surrounded on all other sides by the road. All night there are people walking by your site to use the bathroom, the lights in the bathroom stay on all night and shine into your tent, and the sound of the hand dryers is crystal clear. I can’t speak for the rest of the sites although many appeared to be very small and close to each other. But I will never be camping here again!
It is a decent camp ground but definitely not our favorite. Pros include that it's quiet, clean, well maintained and close to Newport and Beaches. Now for cons, sites are very close together some with very little privacy, there are odd rules (no alcohol). In the tent area there are no places to really do dishes. But the weirdest thing is the showers they are cheap which is a pro but no locking doors and no curtain to separate your clean clothes from the shower, also very few hooks and no benches.
All and all an ok camp ground if you want to stay in this area it's a good spot but some oddities about it.
Been camping there for years and love it! Perfect place to be at during the season
With beautiful beaches and great reastaurants. The only downside is the booking requirements. Very difficult to get a sight you want and usually book for the prior year. Your not always guaranteed to get the dates you need or the site.
